Administration of Credit Approval for Foreign Language Skills Tests, etc

The approval of credits through certification examinations such as the Practical English Proficiency Test, TOEFL®, and TOEIC® which are other types of learning specified separately by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as stipulated in Article 30, Paragraph 1 and Article 31, Paragraph 2 of Hiroshima University General Provisions (hereafter, General Provisions) shall be administered as follows.

(1) Foreign language skills tests, etc. eligible for approval
 1) Practical English Proficiency Test (Eiken)

 2) TOEFL® Test

 3) TOEIC® public test and the TOEIC® IP test implemented by the Hiroshima University Institute for Foreign Language Research and Education

(3) Application Method and Range of Credit Approval
 1. A person who acquired a prescribed level or score prior to admission who intends to receive approval for credits based on stipulations set forth in Article 31, Paragraph 2 of the General Provisions shall submit the Application for Credit Approval for Foreign Language Skills Tests, etc. (Attached Paper) to the faculty of enrollment along with the certificate or certification of score (as a rule, the original), in place of the Application for Approval of Previously Acquired Credits stipulated in the Hiroshima University By-Laws Regarding Approval of Previously Acquired Credits.

 2. A person who acquired a prescribed level or score after admission who intends to receive approval for credits based on stipulations set forth in Article 30, Paragraph 1 of the General Provisions shall submit the Application for Credit Approval for Foreign Language Skills Tests, etc. to the faculty of enrollment along with the certificate or certification of score (as a rule, the original) by the last day of the registration period of each semester.

 3. Applications shall be approved only for class subjects for which credits have not been acquired at the time of application.

 4. Approval shall only be given for credits and a performance assessment shall not be included.

 5. The number of approved credits for each class subject shall be limited to 1 credit.

 6. In cases where approval is sought for class subjects in which a student is currently registered at the time of application, a change in registration content for the said class subject shall be either "credits not required" or "cancellation of completion."

(4) Application
 1. This administration of credit approval shall be applied to students admitted from FY2011.

 2. Provisions then in force regarding Administration of Credit Approval for Foreign Language Skills Tests, etc. for students admitted prior to FY2010 shall remain applicable, notwithstanding the stipulations herein.
