Selection Criteria for Excellent Student Scholarship

Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences

 

The results of the entrance examination, research activities, and the academic transcript will be comprehensively evaluated.

 

Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering

 

The results of the entrance examination, research activities, and the academic transcript will be comprehensively evaluated.

 

Graduate School of Integrated Sciences for Life

 

For both Master's course and Doctoral course students, selection will be done based on submitted documents.

 

Comprehensive evaluation will be made based on research achievements after enrollment (conference presentations, paper publications, and other equivalent activities), and selection will be made for each grade.

 

Graduate School of Biomedical and Health Sciences

 

The scholarship recipients must be enrolled in the university at the time of application for the Excellent Student Scholarship. Those who are on leave of absence and those who have been enrolled for longer than the standard term of study from the time of admission (including those who have extended the time of completion due to leave of absence or use of the long-term enrollment system) are excluded.

 

Master's Course of Division of Integrated Health Sciences

 

Candidates are selected based on their research performance scores from the time of admission to the time of application. Furthermore,in the Graduate School of Biomedical and Health Sciences(Master's Course) Program of Medicinal Sciences, second-year students who have taken the General Selection are eligible.

 

Doctoral Course of Division of Biomedical Sciences,Doctoral Course of Division of Integrated Health Sciences

 

Candidates are selected based on their research performance scores from the time of admission to the time of application. Furthermore,candidates must have at least one journal article , book and review article or case report with the first author listed in SCI or PubMed.

 

If the total scores are the same in the above,those with high scores of Journal article with the first author listed in SCI or PubMed is higher. In case the scores are still the same, the one who falls under イ below will be ranked higher, and in case the scores are the same again, the one who falls under ロ will be ranked higher.

 

イ Those with the highest number of first-authored publications in SCI or PubMed in the order of book and review article, case report, Hiroshima Journal of Medical Sciences, journal article,book and review article (in Japanese), and case report (in Japanese).
ロ Those with the highest number of presentations at international conferences, domestic conferences (national), and domestic conferences (regional or research presentations), in that order.

 

Graduate School of Innovation and Practice for Smart Society

 

Master's Course

 

Eligible for 2nd year students. Candidate will be evaluated based on the grade point average.

 

Doctoral Course

 

Eligible for 1st ~ 3rd year students. Candidate will be evaluated based on over all research achievements.

 

Graduate School of Integrated Arts and Sciences

 

For both master's and doctoral course students, a thorough review is conducted on submitted application documents.

 

Graduate School of Letters

 

Priority will be given to doctoral course students who fulfilled the following criteria.

 

(1)  Candidates must be graduate school students nominated from each field of research and education.
(2)  Selection will be done based on the academic activities of the last two semesters. An interview by the selection committee may be held if necessary.

 

Graduate School of Education

 

1st year master's course students, 1st year students of professional degree program, advanced course students

 

Selection will be done based on the results of the entrance exam. (Interview exam excluded)

 

2nd year master's course students, 2nd year students of professional degree program, doctoral course students

 

Selection will be done based on the academic research activities (book and research paper publications , conference presentations, participation in contests and work exhibitions, awards, etc.).

 

Graduate School of Social Sciences

 

Department of Law and Politics

 

(1)  Candidates who obtained high evaluation in their academic activities (paper publications, conference presentations, etc.) with recognition and proof by an academic
(2)  If there are no candidates applicable to (1), selection will be done among the entrants of that academic year based on the results of doctoral course entrance exam.
(3)  If there are no candidates applicable to (2), selection will be done among the entrants of that academic year based on the results of master's course entrance exam.

 

Department of Economics

 

(1)  Candidates who have records of academic activities (paper publications, conference presentations, etc.). Candidate must submit a self-recommendation letter and proof of the academic activities.
(2)  If there are no candidates applicable to (1), selection will be done among the entrants of that academic year based on the results of doctoral course entrance exam.
(3)  If there are no candidates applicable to (2), selection will be done among the entrants of that academic year based on the results of master's course entrance exam.

 

Department of Management Studies

 

Candidates will be selected individually from the 1st year master's course students, 2nd year master's course students, and doctoral course students. If the number of candidates to be recommended is less than three, priority will be given to students of upper academic year.

 

1st year master's course students

 

(a)  Candidate nominated from each field of research and education.
(b)  Selection will be done based on the results of entrance exam. An interview by the selection committee may be held if necessary.

 

2nd year master's course students

 

(a)  Candidates nominated from each field of research and education.
(b)  Selection will be done based on the academic results of the previous year. An interview by the selection committee may be held if necessary.

 

Doctoral course students

 

(a)  Candidates nominated from each field of research and education.
(b)  Selection will be done based on the academic activities throughout the years of enrollment. An interview by the selection committee may be held if necessary.

 

Graduate School of Science

 

Candidates' achievements as a graduate student will be evaluated from many aspects with focus on research activities such as paper publications, research presentations, etc.

 

Graduate School of Advanced Sciences of Matter

 

1st year master's course students

 

・Quantum Matter and Molecular Biotechnology : Results of master's course entrance exam
・Semiconductor Electronics & Integration Science: Results of master's course entrance exam, paper publications in scientific journals, conference presentations, etc.

 

2nd year master's course students

 

・Quantum Matter: Academic achievements of the previous year
・Molecular Biotechnology: Academic achievements of the previous year, results of master's thesis interim presentation
・Semiconductor Electronics & Integration Science: Academic achievements of the previous year, results of master's thesis research plan presentations, paper publications in scientific journals, conference presentations, etc.

 

1st year doctoral course students

 

・Quantum Matter: Results of doctoral course entrance exam and academic achievements in the master's program
・Molecular Biotechnology and Semiconductor Electronics & Integration Science: Research achievements (paper publications in scientific journals, conference presentations, awards, etc.)

 

2nd and 3rd year doctoral course students

 

Research achievements (paper publications in scientific journals, conference presentations, awards, etc.)

 

Graduate School of Engineering

 

Comprehensive evaluation is done based on the entrance exam results, academic activities, academic achievements in the previous year and interviews.

 

Graduate School for International Development and Cooperation

 

Master's course

 

Candidates will be evaluated based on the grade point average and research achievements (paper publications, conference presentations and other equivalent activities).

 

Doctoral course

 

Candidates will be evaluated based on the research achievements (paper publications, conference presentations and other equivalent activities).

 

Hiroshima University Law School

 

New students

 

Candidates must be top score holders for GPA (limited to required subjects) in the first semester of the selection year. In the case where candidates hold the same GPA score, final candidates will be selected by the selection committee based on the overall academic achievements.

 

2nd year students (excluding new students) and 3rd year students

 

Candidates must be top score holders for GPA in the previous year (first and second semester) and the first semester of the selection year. However, students repeating the same year and students on probation will not be selected as candidates. In the case where candidates hold the same GPA score, final candidates will be selected by the selection committee based on the overall academic achievements.
