Emergency Student Support Handout for Continuing Studies

The acceptance of the second-round applications has ended on July 20.

With students experiencing a significant economic impact on their lifestyles due to heavy reductions in household income and income from part-time work because of the impact of the novel coronavirus pandemic, the program will provide a cash handout for those who face difficulties continuing their studies at their university or other educational institution so that they do not abandon their studies.

〈Who is eligible for the handout?〉

Although recipients must fulfill criteria (such as not living in financial supporter's residence and covering tuition with resources such as part-time work, or losing a significant amount of income due to the novel coronavirus pandemic), the final decision will be left with universities and other educational institutions based on the contents of the application. (See page 5 of the Application Guide for details.)

*The applications from the international students who have already received this handout at the first-round applications will not be accepted.

〈How much money will be handed out?〉

Students who are exempt from residence tax or possess a Japanese permanent residence status etc. will receive 200,000 yen.

Other students will receive 100,000 yen. (See page 3 of the

Application Guide for details.)

〈How to apply〉

Please read "5. Handout Recipient Requirements (Criteria)" on the page 5 of the Application Guide,

and confirm that you meet the requirements first. After that, prepare the required documents and send them to the following address by postal mail.

When sending at the post office, please choose a type of traceable letter such as letter packs, simple registered mails ("kani-kakitome" in Japanese) etc.

The application materials must arrive no later than July 20 (Mon.).

Academic Transcript for one year prior to admission
