The essence of the environment and major elements of the environment such as ecosystem, economy, social system, technology and human behavior are focused on in order to be able to create a sustainable society.  Based on the knowledge acquired, discussion deepens the academic foundation with critical thinking.

Lesson 3: Environmental Impacts from Human Activities
Lesson 4: Elements of the Environment – The state of the Geosphere
Lesson 5: Elements of the Environment – Ecosystem Conservation

Lesson 7: Elements of the Environment – Economy, Social Systems, and Human Behavior
Lesson 8: Final Examination

Since a wide range of knowledge is required to understand environmental problems and issues, preparation and review are required. 
Requirements Basic knowledge on environment in the undergraduate level is required. Active discussion in class is expected. 
Grading Method Final examination 60% and Reports 40%.

Summary of Practical Experience and Class Contents based on it On the basis of a variety of experience in Japanese government as well as foreign countries, the essence of environment is discussed in class.
