Class Objectives
/Class Outline
To develop students’ ability to communicate academic ideas clearly and effectively in English. Students learn how to define a research focus, structure arguments, and develop academic writing through outlines, paragraphs, and a short academic paper. The course emphasizes the connection between writing and research communication. Students also learn to transform their writing into clear and effective academic presentations, focusing on presentation scripts and slide design. AI tools are used appropriately to support idea development, writing, and revision. 
Class Schedule Class 1: Course introduction and overview; understanding academic writing structure
Class 2: Topic selection and developing a clear focus
Class 3: Outlining an academic essay
Class 4: Writing body paragraph 1 (topic sentence, support, examples)
Class 5: Writing body paragraph 2 (developing ideas and clarity)
Class 6: Writing introductions (background and thesis statement)
Class 7: Writing conclusions (summary and implications)
Class 8: Midterm writing check (peer review and revision)
Class 9: Improving academic style (cohesion, transitions, academic vocabulary)
Class 10: Improving clarity and coherence (editing and revision strategies)
Class 11: Using sources and basic referencing
Class 12: Drafting the full essay
Class 13: Presentation structure and slide design
Class 14: Presentation practice and feedback
Class 15: Final presentations (small groups) and final essay submission

Students are expected to review materials in advance, participate actively in class activities, and revise their writing and presentation based on feedback. Additional time outside class is required to develop the final essay and presentation.
