This course explores the cognitive psychological aspects of the comprehension processes of listening and reading when learning Japanese as a native or second language, and understands their characteristics. Furthermore, through practical training, students will gain basic and applied knowledge of statistical processing, which is important when conducting psychological research on these subjects.

Preparation and
Review
Based on knowledge from educational, learning, and developmental psychology, this course will explore empirical research and deepen discussion of the cognitive mechanisms underlying Japanese listening comprehension and reading comprehension (e.g., the function of imagery, the development of external and internal speech, working memory and long-term memory). In addition, students will gain practical knowledge and skills regarding statistical processing in psychological research. Be sure to thoroughly review statistical processing. 
Requirements Nothing in particular. 
Grading Method By 50% of action degrees (question, reply in class, participation in discussion degree) to a class, results 50% of the term paper, I evaluate it generally.

Message Anyone interested in the psychological processes behind listening and reading comprehension is welcome to take this course. You will gain firsthand experience making discoveries, particularly methodological discoveries, that will lead to the research topic of your master's thesis.
