We will explore, focusing on Japanese and examining specific examples, how our own culture becomes enriched and develops by introducing other languages, embracing different cultures and interacting with them.

Lesson 6: Chinese Characters’ Readings in Japan : Wú, Hàn and Táng Era
Lesson 7: Chinese Characters, Hiragana, Katakana and Rômaji
lesson 8: Nishi Amane and Translations of Western Words
lesson 9: Nakae Chōmin and Translations of Rousseau
Lesson 10: Ueda Bin and Translations of Western Poetry
