This course aims to deepen students’ understanding of the most advanced research topics in tectonic geomorphology and active fault studies, to cultivate a proactive attitude toward pursuing such research, and to develop the ability to conduct research using rational and systematic methods.
The course provides an overview of the history and development of bathymetric surveying techniques for seafloor topography, as well as the latest survey methods, including the ethical considerations and legal regulations associated with their implementation. Through hands-on bathymetric surveys and post-processing of the acquired data, students gain an understanding of both the potential and the limitations of applying seafloor topographic measurements to tectonic geomorphological research. |
