Class Objectives
/Class Outline
This seminar examines how grassroots society in modern and contemporary China selectively adapted to and utilized “modernity” and the “Cold War.” Through close reading of primary sources, students will analyze how these broader frameworks were interpreted and negotiated at the local level.
The course also aims to develop the skills necessary for writing a master’s thesis, particularly in primary source analysis and academic writing.
The specific syllabus and reading materials will be determined and adjusted in consultation with the participants.
