This course is one of the elective subjects in the category of "Career Development and Data Literacy Courses" for Common Graduate Courses. This category of courses aims to provide opportunities for students to learn about the development of the current social systems, to gain knowledge needed for the future, to concretely tackle the challenges facing modern society, and to acquire the ability to utilize knowledge and skills.

Class Objectives
/Class Outline
Through long-term internships at domestic and international private companies, public institutions, and non-profit organizations, students will contribute to solving corporate and societal challenges while developing practical skills and expanding their career options. Internships must generally last at least one month including pre-and post-internship guidance, and must include at least two weeks of work performance at the company, and credits will be granted for long-term internships mainly at the following types of host organizations:
1. When the student or their affiliated graduate school has already arranged an internship host.
2. When the host organization is determined through consultation with the Global Career Design Center.

Learning Objectives
By gaining practical work experience in Japanese companies, students will deepen their understanding of Japanese corporations and organizations, and develop practical skills while contributing to the resolution of challenges faced by companies and society. In addition, students will be able to form a realistic image of their own career paths.

Pre-and Post-Internship Guidance
Pre-internship:
Preparation for the work experience, including learning business manners; preparation of required documents such as application materials and self-introduction forms; and an orientation explaining the first day of the internship.
Post-internship:
Preparation of a report on the tasks undertaken during the internship, outcomes achieved, level of attainment of the learning objectives, and reflections gained from the experience, as well as an oral presentation at a report session, followed by guidance and evaluation.
 
Class Schedule (1) Pre-Internship Screening and Interview (as needed)
• After the interview, students must complete the prescribed procedures required for internship placement.
• As required documents and procedures vary depending on the host organization, students must pay careful attention to the specific instructions provided.
• Depending on the host organization, additional documentation or screening processes, such as interviews, may be required.


(2) Pre-Internship Guidance
• As preparation for the work experience, students will study business manners and professional conduct.
• Students will prepare submission materials, including self-introduction documents, and receive an explanation regarding the first day of the internship.

(3) Performance of Duties at the Host Organization (in principle, two weeks or longer)
• Students are required to submit regular progress reports to the course instructor.

(4) Post-Internship Guidance
• Students must prepare and submit a completion report summarizing the duties performed during the internship, outcomes achieved, level of attainment of the learning objectives, and insights gained through the experience.
• Based on the completion report, students will give an oral presentation of approximately 10 minutes. Guidance, feedback, and evaluation will be provided following the presentation.

(5) Course Registration and Grade Awarding
• For internships completed by the end of August 2026, grades will be awarded for the
first semester.
• For internships completed by the end of January 2027, grades will be awarded for the second semester.

Note:
If a host organization for a long-term internship has not yet been decided, students should first consult with their affiliated laboratory or academic advisor. Consultations are also available at the Global Career Design Center. Students are encouraged to schedule a meeting with a career advisor to discuss potential internship opportunities. Course registration for this subject will be processed administratively only after an internship placement has been confirmed. (Prior course registration is not required.)

Suggestions on
Preparation and
Review
• Students are required to research the duties and nature of work of their internship placement in advance.
• Students are also expected to study basic professional manners (including greetings) in advance as part of their self-directed preparation
 
Requirements • Students must enroll in the Student Education and Research Accident Insurance with Liability Coverage (Gakkensai). However, if alternative instructions are provided by the host organization or a career advisor, students must follow those instructions.
• Students who wish to participate in overseas internships are required to enroll in the Tokyo Marine & Nichido Overseas Travel Insurance, with which the University has a comprehensive agreement.
• During the internship, students must follow the instructions of their assigned supervisors and relevant employees at the host organization.
• Concurrent enrollment in other similar internship courses is not permitted.
• As a medical certificate may be required, students are advised to complete the health checkup conducted by the University in advance.
• Enrollment is limited to 10 students. If applications exceed capacity, priority will be given to students enrolled in the “International Student Career Development Program”
 
Grading Method Students will be evaluated based on the following two factors:
(1) Submission status and content of internship reports and related materials prepared by the internship participant.
(2) Content of the presentation delivered during the post-internship guidance session.
