This course aims to foster students’ competencies to understand local and international issues in a structural and multifaceted manner and to explore such issues based on field research. It also develops the ability to advance proposals through communication and dialogue in English under multicultural collaboration. Furthermore, the course seeks to cultivate the ability to consider possible directions for solving social issues and to formulate them into practical proposals and ideas.

No specific textbook will be used in this course. In addition to materials distributed by the instructor, the course will be conducted using basic materials on local issues related to the field research site, policy documents, reports, and academic articles. As reference materials, relevant literature on fieldwork methods, local issue inquiry, EIBL, multicultural collaboration, mangrove ecosystems, and sustainable coastal development will be introduced as appropriate.

Preparation and
Review
Before each class, students should review the distributed materials and related literature to confirm basic information about local issues and the field research site. After each class, students should organize the knowledge gained through research and discussion and use it to deepen their understanding of the issues and revise their proposals. In addition, students should prepare for communication and dialogue in English. 
Requirements The team project will be conducted in an overseas field site within one to two weeks.
All participants in the team project are also required to register for the following course “International Collaborative Learning Workshop.” 
Grading Method Research proposal: 30%, Investigation record: 10%, Interim presentation: formative feedback only; Team collaboration and inquiry process: 30%, Individual reflection report: 30%
