Class Schedule Session 1: Life Planning
In this class, students will learn about the relationship between life planning and money, and will actually create a life plan with an eye toward the future. They will organize their own values and goals, and examine income, expenditures, and financial planning at each stage of life.
Session 2: Insurance Companies and the Insurance Business — Financial Products Handled by Life Insurance Companies

In this lecture, we will invite an employee of a life insurance company as a guest speaker and learn about the types and characteristics of financial products handled by life insurance companies. In addition, we will deepen our understanding of the basic ways of thinking and the perspectives used in selecting insurance products.
Session 3: Risks in Life

In this lecture, we will examine the various risks that people may face in life, such as illness, accidents, unemployment, and disasters, and gain an understanding of their characteristics and impact. In addition, we will learn the basic ways of thinking about how to prepare for such risks.
Session 4: Insurance Companies and the Insurance Business — Financial Products Handled by Non-Life Insurance Companies

In this lecture, we will invite an external lecturer from a non-life insurance company and learn about the types and characteristics of financial products handled by non-life insurance companies. In addition, we will deepen our understanding of the basic perspectives and criteria used when selecting non-life insurance products.
Session 5: Financial Products and Related Problems

In this lecture, we will learn the basic legal framework surrounding financial products. We will also invite a lawyer as a guest speaker to deepen our understanding, from a practical perspective, of the legal points to keep in mind in financial transactions and examples of related disputes.
Session 6: How to Protect Yourself and the Need for Law

In this lecture, we will learn the legal knowledge necessary to protect ourselves in financial transactions and daily life. In addition, we will consider the significance and necessity of understanding the law, and develop a basic attitude for preventing problems before they occur.
Session 7: Banks and Banking — Financial Products Handled by Banks

In this lecture, we will learn about the role of banks and the banking industry. In addition, we will gain an understanding of the types and characteristics of financial products handled by banks. A bank employee will be invited as a guest speaker, and we will study these topics from a practical perspective.
Session 8: Salaries and Taxes

In this lecture, we will learn about the structure of salaries and the basics of taxation. We will also invite a financial planner as a guest speaker to deepen our understanding, from a practical perspective relevant to everyday life, of how to read a payslip and the basic knowledge of taxes.
Session 9: Securities Companies and the Securities Industry — Financial Products Handled by Securities Companies

In this lecture, we will learn about the role of securities companies and the securities industry. In addition, we will gain an understanding of the main types and characteristics of financial products handled by securities companies. An employee of a securities company will be invited as a guest speaker, and we will also learn, from a practical perspective, about the structure and use of NISA and iDeCo.
Session 10: The Economy, Finance, and the Future

In this lecture, we will deepen our understanding of the relationship between the economy and finance, while also considering the financial knowledge that will be required in the years ahead. We will invite a guest speaker and learn, from a practical perspective, about trends and challenges in the cashless era. In addition, we will touch on the mechanisms and characteristics of cryptocurrencies and examine the future of finance.
Session 11: Credit Cards and What It Means to Borrow Money
In this lecture, we will learn about how credit cards work and the meaning of “borrowing money.” We will invite an employee of a credit card company as a guest speaker and deepen our understanding, from a practical perspective, of how revolving payments work and the points to keep in mind when using them.

Session 12: Ways of Thinking About Finance
In this lecture, we will learn about the basic ways of thinking about finance and how to approach money. We will invite a business executive as a guest speaker and deepen our understanding, based on real-life experience, of how money is earned and how value is created.
Session 13: Things to Consider When Renting Real Estate
In this lecture, we will learn the basic knowledge and contract mechanisms necessary when renting real estate. In addition, we will understand important points to keep in mind in rental agreements and the breakdown of related costs, and develop the ability to make appropriate decisions.
Session 14: Things to Consider When Buying Real Estate
In this lecture, we will learn the basic knowledge required when purchasing real estate and how to make a financial plan. In addition, we will deepen our understanding of perspectives for selecting properties and important points to keep in mind when signing a contract. We will invite the manager of a real estate company as a guest speaker and study these topics concretely from a practical perspective.
Session 15: Examination

Final Examination is mandatory.

Each session will include a practical talk by an invited outside expert speaker.

Pay attention to everyday news and familiar financial products such as bank accounts, insurance, and credit cards, and organize any questions you have in your own way.
Please come to class with at least one question prepared for the guest lecturer.

Review:
Organize the technical terms and institutional systems covered in class so that you can explain them in your own words.
Apply what you have learned to your own life plan and think about how you can make use of it.
