Liberal Arts Education This class aims to connect Liberal Arts Education to Specialized Education by the following;
・The lectures are presented by the former faculty members based on the long experience of education and research.
・To provide ideas and hints for resolving issues related to "maintaining and developing peace".
Expected Outcome Studying about war and history directly as they really are, considering peace and culture which are made by human being. Bringing up the next generation that pursues peace with recognizing human being.

Class Objectives
/Class Outline ・This class will face up to the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and deepen our introspection in
pursuit of peace through the history leading up to the bombing.
・This class will consider the impact and influence of the atomic bomb on society based on three key words: radiation exposure, Hiroshima in world history, and Hiroshima's reconstruction and passing down memories.
・This course will consider the threat of war and nuclear weapons from multiple perspectives such as science and technology, medicine and healthcare, history and different cultures, etc., and will think about the significance of passing on Hiroshima to future generations.

Requirements

Grading Method ・Comments for each lesson (as the certificate of attendance): 50%
・Report on thinking about Peace: “My Approach to Peace": 20%
(referring to peace memorial monuments, videos, books and various resources)
This report is necessary to get the credits of this class.
・Final report (what you have thought about after taking this course and what you think you
should live in the future): 30%
The overall grade will be determined based on the scores for the above three assignments.

Other You are required to submit a report entitled "My Approach to Peace" as a common assignment for Peace Science Courses. When you fail to submit the report, the credits will not be awarded.
