The "Advanced Seminar" will be held to give students opportunities to practically utilize their comprehensive knowledge to create new value and solve problems in society, based on their learning in the "Introductory Seminar for First-Year Students". It is designed for students to cultivate problem-finding and problem-solving skills through the study and discussion of cutting-edge topics and hands-on learning in small classes that transcend school and grade boundaries, and to develop challenge, presentation, and leadership skills. 
Expected OutcomeIn combination with the "Introduction to University Education" and the "Introductory Seminar for First-Year Students", students are expected to:
1. Form an independent learning attitude
2. Improve their problem-finding and problem-solving skills
3. Improve their logical and critical thinking skills
4. Improve their reading comprehension, expression, presentation, and discussion skills
5. Improve their communication and leadership skills 
Class Objectives
/Class Outline
Starting from the simple curiosity about how the food we eat in our daily lives is produced and how it reaches us, this course aims to examine and discuss contemporary issues and possible solutions related to food and agriculture from multiple perspectives. Specifically, (1) students will record their meals over a certain period and reflect on their own dietary habits; (2) each student will present questions or topics of interest related to food and agriculture, which will then be discussed collectively; and (3) students will select a topic of interest, give a presentation, and engage in online (synchronous interactive) discussion based on the presentation.

Session 1: Preparation: Prepare a self-introduction. Review: Listen to other students’ presentations and broaden your perspectives on food and agriculture.
Session 2: Preparation: Organize your own interests related to food and agriculture. Review: Understand other students’ presentations and expand your awareness in everyday life.
Session 3: Preparation: Reflect on your eating habits so far. Review: Increase your awareness of food in everyday life.
Session 4: Preparation: Think about where the food you usually eat comes from. Review: Increase your awareness of food in everyday life.
Session 5: Preparation: Think about food and agriculture from your everyday life. Review: Reconsider how life would change if something were absent from everyday life.
Session 6: Preparation: Reflect on your views on food. Review: Reexamine your everyday eating habits.
Session 7: Preparation: Organize your opinions on the debate topic. Review: Reflect on different viewpoints and relate them to everyday life.
Session 8: Preparation: Review the course and prepare presentation slides. Review: Apply what you have learned in the course to everyday life. 
Requirements Because presentations and discussions will be conducted via Teams, please participate from a location where a stable internet connection is available. 
Grading Method Students will be evaluated based on the following three criteria:
(1) Clarity of thinking in recording and reflecting on everyday eating habits
(2) A presentation on a topic of interest related to food and agriculture
(3) Active participation in the seminar throughout the course
Evaluation will be conducted on a pass/fail basis only; a five-point grading scale will not be used.
