Classes will be conducted primarily through writing practice, discussion, and peer-review activities. Students are expected to participate actively at all times. In principle, the course will be conducted face-to-face, although some sessions may be held online if necessary.

The course is aimed at students wishing to acquire the English writing skills necessary to participate in the global community.

Class Objectives
/Class Outline
This course develops fundamental academic writing skills in English. Particular emphasis is placed on paragraph organisation, including topic sentences and supporting details. Students will practise planning, drafting, revising, and editing their writing. Through regular short writing assignments and peer-review activities, students will develop the ability to write clear paragraphs and short essays.

lesson 2: Topic sentences and main ideas
lesson 3: Supporting details and examples
lesson 4: Unity and coherence in paragraphs
lesson 5: Descriptive and narrative paragraphs
lesson 6: Opinion paragraphs
lesson 7: Peer review and revision of paragraphs
lesson 8: Paragraph writing assignment

Towards the end of the course, students will submit a short essay or written report based on the work covered in class. In some cases, students may revise and resubmit work completed earlier in the course. Further details will be explained in class.

Students are expected to complete short writing assignments and preparation tasks each week. They should also review feedback on their writing and revise or rewrite their work when appropriate.
