Class Objectives
/Class Outline The purpose of this practicum is to acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for dental hygienists to provide oral health care to people.
This practical training is conducted continuously over four terms and through the third year.

Class Schedule lesson1: Scaling and polishing using a Gracey-type scaler, topical application of fluoride, upper and lower anterior teeth, mutual practice
lesson2: Scaling and polishing using a Gracey type scaler, local application of fluoride, mandibular molar area, interactive training
lesson3: Scaling and polishing using a Gracey-type scaler, topical application of fluoride, maxillary molar area, mutual practice
lesson4: Scaling and polishing of tooth surfaces using ultrasonic and air scalers, and topical application of fluoride.
lesson5: Characteristics and operation of Airflow (tooth surface cleaning tool), topical application of fluoride, mutual practice
lesson6: Scaling and polishing using a Sickle-type scaler and a Gracey-type scaler, and topical application of fluoride: mutual practice
lesson7: Types of pit and fissure closure and precautions for implementation - Mannequin practice
lesson8: Tests

A practical and written exam will be given at the final session.

For the first session, please bring your lab coat and co-purchased shoes and meet in the Dental Skills Lab 3・4 on the 6th floor of Building B. You will need your student ID card to open the door.

Requirements Students are expected to take good care of their health and not to be absent from class, since absence from class will affect the next class.

Grading Method Comprehensive evaluation will be made based on knowledge (examinations), skills (examinations), attitude (submissions), etc.
