Class Objectives
/Class Outline
This lecture will be performed by Prof. Yutaka Sumino. The course begins with a brief overview of the mathematical framework commonly used in the study of interfacial flows. The subsequent lectures focus on specific interfacial phenomena. For each topic, we discuss the underlying physical mechanisms that generate flows and connect them to recent research results.
Class Schedule lesson1 Introduction (I): Nonequilibrium Soft Matter and Fundamentals of Nonlinear Dynamics
lesson2 Introduction (II): Fundamentals of Fluid Dynamics and Rheology
lesson3 Wetting on Solid Substrates (I): Contact Lines, Reactive Wetting, and Capillary Flows
lesson4 Wetting on Solid Substrates (II): Tanner’s Law and Self-Similar Solutions
lesson5 Wetting on Liquid Substrates (I): Neumann’s triangle, Marangoni effect and Lateral capillary force
lesson6 Wetting on Liquid Substrates (II): Droplet Motion and Collective Dynamics
lesson7 Diffusiophoretic Phenomena (I): Flows at Solid–Liquid Interfaces (Diffusiophoresis and Electro-osmosis)
lesson8 Diffusiophoretic Phenomena (II): Collective Motion of Particles
