Class Objectives /Class Outline |
[Goals] (1) To accurately understand the outlines and statutory provisions of various systems in family law. (2) To grasp key issues related to family matters and be able to explain them. (3) To acquire knowledge and information regarding actual legal procedures.
[Overview] This course assumes a certain level of prior knowledge of civil law systems relating to family relationships, including their interpretation and application. The main topics covered are: (1) the formation, effects, and dissolution of marital relationships; (2) the establishment and legal consequences of parent–child relationships; and (3) the commencement and effects of inheritance, as well as the division of estates. The aim is to acquire basic legal knowledge and foundational understanding of the legal systems governing family relations, and to develop the practical perspective needed to explain everyday events—such as divorce and inheritance—from a legal standpoint. To that end, this course explains the significance of relevant legal systems and statutory provisions, while also examining concrete cases to deepen understanding. By addressing the specific procedures characteristic of family disputes—such as domestic relations adjudication and personal status litigation—the course seeks to foster a more realistic and practical understanding of family law. |
