This class is designed to provide students with basic knowledge and understanding of the theories and methods of secondary art education, as well as the ability to identify problems and issues related to theories and methods of secondary art education and provide solutions.

・To gain an overview of the ideas that have supported art education and trends in art education in other countries, and to acquire basic concepts regarding theories and frameworks of art education.
・To examine support and instruction for learning activities and the nature of art activities in collaboration with society through the process of developing teaching materials for junior and senior high school art classes and case studies.

Lesson 1: Be prepared to explain art education philosophies such as those of Cizek and Read.
Lesson 2: Be able to explain color and hues, the properties and characteristics of color, and color in daily life.
Lesson 3: Be able to explain how to appreciate picture scrolls and provide an overview of the four great picture scrolls.
Lesson 4: Be able to explain the historical significance and overview of the "Scenery in and around Kyoto, Funaki version."
Lesson 5: Be able to explain Western painting from an iconographic perspective.
Lesson 6: Be able to describe works of abstract expression in your own words.
Lesson 7: Be able to explain aerial perspective, chromatic perspective, and linear perspective.
Lesson 8: Be able to draw simple three-dimensional objects using projection and perspective drawing.
Lesson 9: Be able to suggest learning materials for graphic design.

Grading Method Grading will be based on a comprehensive assessment of your participation in the discussion (30%), the content of your presentation (30%), and post-class assignments (40%).

Summary of Practical Experience and Class Contents based on it Experienced art teacher from junior high and high schools who has experience in assisting with the editing of certified textbooks, writing teacher guides, and planning and supervising digital learning materials, will lecture on art education theory, teaching methods, material development, and the role of instructors. 
Message This class will introduce practical examples of art education that are needed today. Students are encouraged to share any unclear points, questions, or innovative ideas.
