To develop students’ ability to understand and use key features of English usage in real communication, including multi-word units, discourse markers, and pragmatic expressions, across different contexts (spoken vs written, formal vs informal). 
Class Schedule Class 1: Course Introduction + What is “English Usage”?
Class 2: Greetings and Openings (Formal vs Informal)
Class 3: Starting and Ending Conversations (Small Talk and Saying Goodbye)
Class 4: Invitations (Making and Responding to Invitations)
Class 5: Declining Invitations (Politeness and Softening Strategies)
Class 6: Requests and Favors (Making Polite Requests and Asking for Help)
Class 7: Reactions (Responding to Good News and Bad News)
Class 8: Midterm Test (Weeks 1–4)
Class 9: Showing Interest and Engagement in Conversation
Class 10: Complaints and Showing Annoyance
Class 11: Giving Instructions and Explaining Processes
Class 12: Expressing Opinions (Direct vs Indirect Language)
Class 13: Disagreeing Politely
Class 14: Being Vague and Softening Language

Midterm and final tests will be conducted in class. The tests will assess students’ understanding of practical English usage, including appropriate expressions, tone, and language choices in different contexts. The format will include multiple-choice questions, dialogue completion tasks, and matching items.

Students are expected to actively participate in class activities and complete all assigned tasks. Before each class, students should watch the assigned video materials. After class, students should review key expressions and practice using them in context.
