Face-to-face, Online (simultaneous interactive)
This course combines face-to-face classes with real-time online sessions via Zoom.
Online sessions are conducted synchronously and include guided listening, repetition, and speaking practice, including pair and group work in breakout rooms.
Students complete short preparation tasks on Moodle before class and actively participate during class.

Class Objectives

This course aims to develop students’ intelligible and fluent English pronunciation, with a focus on connected speech in natural communication.
Students will learn and practice key features such as linking, reductions, weak forms, sound changes, and basic stress and intonation patterns.
Through guided listening, repetition, shadowing, and short speaking tasks, students will improve their ability to understand fast speech and produce more natural spoken English. 
Class Schedule Class 1: Course introduction and overview
Class 2: Fast speech basics (linking sounds)
Class 3: Fast speech basics (linking continued)
Class 4: Fast speech basics (rhythm and grouping)
Class 5: Reductions and weak forms (function words)
Class 6: Connected speech and reductions
Class 7: Unstressed vowels and schwa
Class 8: Midterm review and listening check
Class 9: Sound changes (flap T, glottal stop)
Class 10: Sound changes (elision)
Class 11: Sound changes (assimilation)
Class 12: Problem sounds (/l/, /r/, /θ/)
Class 13: Stress and intonation (basic patterns)
Class 14: Stress and intonation (emphasis and expression)
Class 15: Review and final performance task

There is no traditional written exam.
Students will complete a mid-semester listening check and a final speaking task.

Materials are provided via Moodle and include freely available online videos and audio (e.g., YouTube, BBC Learning English).

Requirements  
Grading Method Grades will be based on the following components:
-Weekly preparation and participation: 40%
-Mid-semester listening check: 25%
-Final speaking task: 35%
Assessment focuses on effort, participation, and improvement rather than accuracy alone.
