To understand fundamental and basic knowledge needed for teaching home economics for elementary schools
 
Class Schedule Lesson1  In this course, students will learn 5 areas of home economics.The order of lessons of each area will be explained in the first lesson: Guidance. The following shows the lesson plan of the 5 areas:
Clothing life:
Lesson2  1. The contents of the area of clothing life in home economics for elementary schools. Three functions of clothing.
Lesson3  2. Creating useful things for living. Hand sawing.
Lesson4  3. How to care clothes. How to use a sawing machine and sawing goods safety.
Dietary life:
Lesson5  1. Learning contents of dietary life filed in home economics for elementary school. Role of meals .
Lesson6  2. Meals considered nutrition.
Lesson7  3. Safe handling of cookware and foundation for cooking.
Housing:
Lesson8  1. The contents of the area of housing life in home. economics for elementary schools.
Lesson9  2. Function of housing, Life to adjust the change of season.
Lesson10  3. Contemporary Issues in Housing and Living Environments.
Consumer Life and Environment:
Lesson11  1. Learning Content of Consumer Life and Environment in Elementary Home Economics.(Use of Goods and Money, and Shopping)
Lesson12  2. Learning Content of Consumer Life and Environment in Elementary Home Economics. (Environmentally Responsible Living)
Family life:

Session 3 Preparation: Review personal clothing choices and related skills.
Review: Practice basic clothing care and reflect on applying skills to daily life.

Dietary Life

Session 1 Preparation: Review prior learning on food and nutrition.
Review: Discuss the significance of dietary education in elementary home economics.
Session 2 Preparation: Reflect on your own meals.
Review: Summarize key points for balanced meals.
Session 3 Preparation: Consider safety and key points in cooking.
Review: Practice basic techniques (non-heated and heated cooking).

Housing Life

Session 1 Preparation: Reflect on your living space and identify issues.
Review: Understand housing learning content and discuss comfortable living.

Session 3 Preparation: Consider tidiness and cleaning in daily life.

Consumer Life and Environment

Session 1 Preparation: Read the Course of Study Guide (Consumer Life & Environment, pp.64–70) and related textbook sections.
Review: Compare past and present children’s consumption behaviors.
Session 2 Preparation: Consider daily life–environment relations and responsible use of goods.
Review: Develop simple teaching materials/lesson ideas.

Family Life

Session 1 Preparation: Read “Let’s Reflect on Our Daily Lives” (p.8) and identify key concepts for improving family/personal life.
Review: Consider inclusive ways to present “Hikaru’s Day” for diverse family backgrounds.
Session 2 Preparation: Read “Living Together in the Community” (p.126) and consider school–family–community collaboration.
Review: Consider teacher guidance to support self-respect and positive relationships.

Integration
Review the five areas and consider the structure of elementary home economics from an integrated perspective. 
Requirements  
Grading Method Students will be evaluated based on reports and exams of each of the five areas. The sum of scores of those areas will be a final grade. The details of point allocation of each area will be explained in the orientation.
