/Class Outline
This course aims to conduct close readings of the works of the seventeenth-century English Metaphysical Poets and to examine themes such as love, religion, time, and death within their intellectual-historical contexts. No summaries will be permitted; every line will be read and analyzed verbatim. Students will read the text aloud line by line and will be responsible for providing a Japanese translation as well as grammatical explanation.
