Class Objectives
/Class Outline
The ancient history of Iran has constituted one of the major historical currents of the Middle East.
This course provides an overview of the ancient history of Iran based on findings from archaeological research, with the aim of helping students acquire basic knowledge. It introduces recent developments in Iranian archaeology and presents both the general outline of ancient history and the key issues currently under discussion. At the same time, students will be encouraged to consider contemporary circumstances surrounding Iran and the Middle East in light of their historical background.
The course will be conducted mainly in a lecture format, combined with interactive discussion and exchange with students.
