This class is an introduction to modern history of East Asia. Every student will be required to give an oral presentation about an Asian-history book.

Requirements Class participation will be an important component of assessment. Students will be evaluated not only on their presentations during assigned sessions, but also on their active participation in discussions throughout the course.
The course plan is subject to change depending on the interests and concerns of the participants.
