Class Objectives /Class Outline |
This lecture provides the basic concepts and analytical methods related to the evaluation of loads and external forces acting on buildings after the concepts of safety and risk. Students will also understand the methodology of structural reliability engineering. This will help students understand structural analysis methods for various types of buildings and the concept of performance design using these methods. |
Class Schedule |
lesson1: Introduction lesson2: Performance requirements and target performance level in structural design lesson3: Basics of probability and statistics lesson4: Quantification of structural performance based on structural reliability theory lesson5: Return period lesson6: Classification of loads, dead load/fixed load/live load lesson7: Snow load lesson8: Wind load lesson9: Seismic load lesson10: Tsunami load lesson11: Miscellaneous loads lesson12: Probabilistic seismic hazard assessment lesson13: Generic risk analysis methods (Monte Carlo method) lesson14: Current status of seismic performance evaluation methods lesson15: Summary
