Class Objectives

We will examine the academic abilities and competencies that are targeted for development in school education, and consider the academic abilities and competencies required in school curricula and subject curricula in the present and future, by surveying and analyzing research literature and materials related to theories of goals, academic abilities, and evaluation, as well as research on learning and development, both in Japan and overseas.
In particular, this lecture will deal with the development of evaluation methods for academic abilities and competencies in the social sciences.
In addition, we will explain and practice quantitative survey methods in each session, and proceed while analyzing quantitative data.

Requirements This class will focus on the social studies domain, particularly the history subject. 
Grading Method Students will be assessed comprehensively based on their report assignments (60%) and class participation (40%).
