The purpose of this course is to help students acquire an understanding of
(1) The social phenomena and problems over rural society and natural environment.
(2) Research trends on social structure and change in rural society.
(3) Current trends over studies on rural society

This course consists of two parts. Part 1 introduces basic research trends about social structure and changes of rural society in rural sociology. Part 2 deals with the major thesis about environment, commons, gender, comparison in Asian rural communities and regional revitalization and enhances the development of students’ skill in making oral presentation.
