Specific topics include the legacy of Hiroshima, the Fukuda Doctrine, nuclear arms control, and the role of language and translation in shaping perceptions of peace. Through lectures and active class discussions, students will gain a nuanced understanding of Japan's post-war trajectory and its ongoing engagement with issues of peace and coexistence.
