This class will focus on sociological trends of contemporary Japanese society comparing arguments that analyze their backgrounds, factors, and effects for society.

Lesson 1: Students must understand the aims and construction of this class.
Lesson 2-4: Students will read basic literatures of reflexive modernity and individualization.
Lesson 5-6: Students will decide their own theme of research.
Lesson 7-12: Students will report on their own theme making a summary of literatures.
Lesson 13: Students will discuss methods of data analysis to make reports.
Lesson 14: Students will submit reports elaborating data.
Lesson 15: Reports will be reviewed.
 
Requirements  
Grading Method Students will be comprehensively evaluated on the basis of their class reports(50%), Q&A performance and report preparation(50%).
