Japan is promoting the realization of Society 5.0 as part of its efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By leveraging advanced technologies such as data science, artificial intelligence (AI), and robotics, the country aims to address various societal challenges. As Society 5.0 develops and expands internationally, there is an increasing need for highly specialized professionals who can tackle the complex challenges arising from economic growth, including mobility, energy, food security, healthcare, the environment, and public policy.
To meet these societal needs, Innovation and Practice for Smart Society has emerged as a discipline dedicated to developing the systems and technologies necessary for realizing Society 5.0 and implementing them in society. This course will explore specific global and societal challenges through case studies, examining the methodologies and potential applications of Smart Society Practical Science, which integrates theory and practice to develop effective solutions. Emphasizing the interaction between technology and social institutions, the course will investigate new approaches for building a sustainable society. |
