Liberal Arts Education
This course is an introductory Korean language class. It is designed for students who have no prior experience learning Korean, with the goal of acquiring basic reading, writing, and simple conversation skills. Additionally, to build basic knowledge of Korean society, materials such as Korean dramas, movies, and K-Pop videos will also be used in the course. 
Expected Outcome1. To be able to conduct daily communication orally and in writing in a foreign language.
2. To be able to understand many languages and cultures by using multiple foreign languages.

Building on Basic Korean Proficiency to Develop Applied Skills.

1. Learn and apply various verb conjugations commonly used in daily conversations.
2. acquire expressions that indicate possibility/impossibility, past tense, desire, and respect in predicates, and to be able to discuss actions, situations, and intentions.
3. Master past tense formation and be able to talk and write about past events.
4. Understand the basic conjugation of honorific forms, their usage contexts, and compare them with Japanese.

- For dictionaries, "Progressive Korean-Japanese / Japanese-Korean Dictionary" (edited by Yukitoshi Yutani et al., published by Shogakukan) is recommended.

Suggestions on
Preparation and
Review
1. Prepare by reviewing the assigned sections from class and looking up the meanings and pronunciations of new vocabulary.
2. Listen to the audio of the text at least three times before attending class.
3. Review the vocabulary, expressions, grammar, and conversations learned in each class on your own.
4. Complete and submit the assigned tasks within the designated deadline. 
Requirements 1. Please avoid absences as much as possible, as they may hinder your understanding of the lesson and participation in pair work.
2. This course includes many pair and group activities. Even if you are not familiar with them, do not hesitate—participate actively and with confidence. 
Grading Method The overall evaluation will be based on the following criteria:  

- Final Exam: 50%  
- Class Participation (including assignment submission and class attitude): 30%  
- Quizzes: 20%
