Class Objectives
/Class Outline
This course will outline the unique ecosystems of "extreme environments" scattered across the earth, including the polar regions and the deep sea, and the characteristics of the organisms that have adapted to these environments. It will also teach about the adaptation mechanisms and evolutionary processes of organisms living in extreme environments, and the effects of climate change in extreme environments. In addition, it will introduce examples of how the unique abilities of organisms living in extreme environments are being applied to biotechnology.
