Class Objectives
/Class Outline
The Finite Element Method, that is the representative structural analysis method with computers, is a common and ordinary tool for many structural engineers. In the old days, they had to study the theory and make up the program by themselves.  In these days, they use the high performance commercial programs instead of such self- made programs.  However, it is obvious that it is very dangerous if they uses the programs for the actual structural design without the knowledge of basic theory. The aim of this class is to obtain the foundation of FEM by studying the basic theorem and exercising the example analyses using free FEM program on PC. Moreover, the other applications of FEM and the other analysis methods are explained.
Class Schedule Lesson 1: Concept of Finite Element Method
Lesson 2: Basic Theory of FEM (1)
Lesson 3: Basic Theory of FEM (2)
