Class Objectives
/Class Outline
The purpose of this practicum is to acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for dental hygienists to provide oral health care to people.
This practical training is conducted continuously over four terms and through the third year. 
Class Schedule lesson1: Scaling with a Gracie type scaler (
Upper and lower molars)
lesson2: Basic operation of universal curette scaler, sharpening of gracie type scaler
lesson3: Scaling with a Gracie Scaler Review of all jaws
lesson4: Tooth polishing, PMTC: mannequin
lesson5: Basics and methods of caries prevention procedures, methods and implementation of caries activity testing
lesson6: Types and uses of fluoride and applications of fluoride
lesson7: Confirmation and discussion of caries activity test results
lesson8: Tests

A practical and written exam will be given at the third and final session.

For the first session, please bring your lab coat and co-purchased shoes and meet in the Dental Skills Lab 1 on the 3rd floor of Building C. You will need your student ID card to open the door.

Requirements Students are expected to take good care of their health and not to be absent from class, since absence from class will affect the next class.
If you are absent, make-up practice will be conducted before the next class day. If you must be absent due to unavoidable circumstances, please be sure to contact your instructor and ask about make-up training.
