/Class Outline
In this course, students will understand (1) the basic knowledge of peace studies, (2) the concepts of peace and violence, (3) an overview of the philosophy and systems related to peace education, and (4) wider social contexts behind these topics. There is diversity in peace education in various countries with different areas and methods highlighted. The students are expected to understand how peace and violence are depicted in textbooks in other countries, the mechanism of how violence occurs, and recommended solutions for it. They should also recognize the characteristics of their own idea of peace and find a way to work together for peace building with people with a different idea of peace.
