(Knowledge and Understanding)
・By deepening basic understanding of science subjects taught in secondary education (physics, chemistry, biology, and earth science), to be able to explain teaching contents.
Class Objectives
/Class Outline
This is a specialized course of the Program in Science Education. The purpose of this course is for students to learn and understand specialized knowledge of physics among other science subjects. This course will provide the students with explanations of the fundamentals concerning force and energy: ‘ charge & electric field’, ‘ current & magnetic field’, ‘ electromagnetic induction’, ‘ energy in electromagnetic field’, etc. among other content of science ( physics) in secondary education, including educational content of those items. Through this course, the student will deepen understanding of physical natural cognition methodology and fundamental concepts.
Class Schedule 1: Guidance

2: Force between charges and electric field

3: Gauss's law I

4: Gauss's law II

5: Electric potential

6: Conservative force and the law of no curl

7: Conductors and capacitors

8: Ohm's law

9: Law of conservation of magnetic flux

10: Ampere's law I

11: Ampere's law II

12: Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction

13: Displacement current and Maxwell's equations

14: Electromagnetic wave equation

15: Electric circuits

"1.Students will be provided with an opportunity to understand the basic concept such as charges and electric fields and the relations between current and magnetic field and examine how to teach those items.
2.This course will explain the contents of electric field, energy of magnetic field, and electromagnetic induction and examine how to teach those items.
3.This course will explain the basic configuration and the activity of electric circuits and examine teaching materials and other using them.

Suggestions on
Preparation and
Review
"Every lesson will be a lecture-oriented lesson based on handouts. It will be essential for students to read the handouts and review the contents of the lecture after every lesson. There will be a small quiz about the previous lesson in every lesson. Therefor, reviewing will be important for grade."

Requirements "Special subject ( science, physics)
It is desirable that students have taken ’Basic Knowledge of Physics' and' Scientific Literacy of Physics I'
Grading Method Students will be evaluated based on attendance/performance in class(quizzes) and exam.
