Class Objectives
/Class Outline
In the special needs school (hearing impairments), teaching to the children and the students are doing with sign language and spoken language in the class and everyday activities. Sign language and spoken language are  different language. This classes' goal is to  provide students with the  opportunities to access the communication mode to the hearing impairment children. One of the educational goals in the special needs school (hearing impairment) is teaching Japanese with using sign language.

There will be a final check of the sign language skills. There will be an irregular assignment during the course. There will also be a final checking covering writing task, reading of sign language expression and skills after all the lessons are done.

Review
Students are requested homework in every class. Watiching the TV programs(NHK SYUWA NEWS (手話ニュース) 845 and KODOMO SYUWA WEEKLY (子ども手話ウイークリー)) are recommmended. 
Requirements This is an elective course that corresponds to Section2 (Curriculum and Teaching methods)of the Teacher Certification for Special Needs School ( Education for children with hearing impairments) of the Teachers License Act.
Message from the facilitator:Those of you who will take teaching practice in special needs school for the hearing-impaired  must take this course. If you do not take this course, you will not be allowed to have the teaching practice. The prerequisite is Communication Method in School Education for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing I.  
Grading Method The total evaluation is 100 points, consisting of 40 points for checking sign language skills and 10 points for attitude, and 50 points for a confirmation test at the last session. 
Practical Experience Experienced  
Summary of Practical Experience and Class Contents based on it Instructor have experiences of teaching children and students with hearing impairments as the regular teacher in the Special Needs Education School for the hearing impairment. So I can teach sign language to the students including the practical contents, emphasizing the important scenes and the points of sign language usage at the teaching scenes in the school.  
Message Students will learn how to communicate with young children with hearing impairment so that they can learn independently and live in society. Educational practice will also be enhanced. 
Other Message from the facilitator:
・I expect students imaging the educational practicum in autumn and taking class actively. If you show any problem, e.g. learning attitudes, you will have a face-to-face meeting with facilitator.
