It is aimed for knowledge of the basic point at issue of the Japanese ancient history and the acquisition of the study method. I lecture on politics, economy, culture and the social sides by this lecture about the Nara-Heian period in particular and aim at observing the times from a multidirectional viewpoint.

Listen to the lecture with the following points in mind.
1-2: What kind of materials are available for understanding ancient Japanese history?
3-4: What is the role of the emperor?
5-6: What can we read from the ritual book?
7-8: What kind of environment did the nobles live in?
9-11: How was the system of security maintained?
12-15: What were the living conditions of the people?  
Requirements Bring a notebook PC by all means every time to carry out a Quizzes and comment during class by moodle.
Beginning in 2025, “Study of Japanese Ancient History” will alternate between A and B courses every other year.
