By reading through Steven Pinker's two major works, The Better Angels of Our Nature and Enlightenment Now, students will grasp the characteristics of contemporary thought, often referred to as "New Enlightenment." However, since these books are highly voluminous, specific key sections to focus on will be indicated in advance for each session.
