Class Objectives
/Class Outline
Enviromental problems, such as sustainable energy system, climate change and social damages of natural disaster, cannot be solved by any single discipline and we must have a competency to manage, or even initiate, multidisciplinary problem solving. Future global leaders should thus be equipped with, or at least understand, a multidisciplinary perspective and innovation skills to address various wicked problems.
You will be start learning skills to create new policy idea based on methodologies of design thinking and innovation science in this course. Basic theories and methods of design thinking and innovation will be offered, and a concrete social issue would then be presented for your practice of policy design. This is an introductory course for students to develop the competency to practice the methods and knowledge of design thinking and innovation to address environmental issues.

Practical Experience Experienced  
Summary of Practical Experience and Class Contents based on it The instructor has more than ten years of experience in innovation education at various levels, from secondary education to re-skilling professional training. He served as an assistant director of the i.school (innovation school) between 2014 and 2018 and serves as an external fellow of the Tokushima University i.school since 2025. He also offered innovation education programs for educational professionals in developing countries, such as Colombia and India, for many years.
