Class Objectives /Class Outline |
The purpose of this course is to help students acquire an understanding of major themes and basic fieldwork methods in rural sociology. This course consists of four parts. Part 1 introduces two research trends (social culture and social problems). Part 2 introduces the social research processes and collection of data. Part 3 explains current issues and future agenda concerning society, culture and the nature of community (social bonds in community, basic culture in community and subsistence and natural resource use). Part 4 explains current issues and future agenda concerning regional problems and social structure (population problems and regional structure, environmental problems in community and social minorities). |
