Class Objectives
/Class Outline
The purpose of this course is to help students acquire an understanding of major themes and basic fieldwork methods in rural sociology.
This course consists of four parts. Part 1 introduces two research trends (social culture and social problems). Part 2 introduces the social research processes and collection of data. Part 3 explains current issues and future agenda concerning society, culture and the nature of community (social bonds in community, basic culture in community and subsistence and natural resource use). Part 4 explains current issues and future agenda concerning regional problems and social structure (population problems and regional structure, environmental problems in community and social minorities).
