Class Objectives
/Class Outline
The theme of the class is a practical exercise for an academic study on the selected subject of pure chemistry based on the technicality and originality. The principal object is the introduction and development of different disciplines irrespective of existing method of research. The goal of the class is to learn the capability for gathering information, planning and revising research, handling of scientific machine, analyzing the data, communicating with researchers in different discipline, and presenting the results of research. The class is given as a seminar program whose goal is mastering the common ability and skill for the selected theme of pure chemistry related the research direction given by the supervisors so far. The method of presentation will be shown in focusing the items specific to pure chemistry and amalgamated researches, which are not dealt with in the common classes of graduate school. The students are divided into several groups to give opportunity for presenting research. The level of the achievement and the items to be mastered are identical for every class; however, the concrete subjects differ according to the classes. The students can select the class they want to take.
Class Schedule lessons 1: Guidance and entry.
lessons 2: How to handle the scientific machine. Principle of operation and measuring object.
lessons 3: How to handle the scientific machine. Service conditions and Application.
lessons 4: Research plan 1. Motivation and its validity.
lessons 5: Research plan 2. Designing the experimental setup for achieving the goal.
lessons 6: Research plan 3. Verification of the experimental system and expected results.
lessons 7: Information-gathering 1. Survey and arrange of the previous studies.
lessons 8: Information-gathering 2. Examination of the recent trend of the related studies and introduction to the objective.
lessons 9: Information-gathering 3. Clarifying the difference between the objective and related studies. Regular examination of the pursuit of the originality.
lessons 10: Data analysis 1. Understanding the principle of analysis and problems.
lessons 11: Data analysis 2. Selection of the method of analysis for the purpose.
lessons 12: Communication with researchers in different discipline. How to inform one's own major.
lessons 13: Presentation. How to show the viewgraph and extract the necessary information.
