Class Objectives
/Class Outline
In developing countries, they have to deal with economic development and environmental conservation, and countermeasures for natural hazards. In this lecture, to learn the practical knowledge to contribute for environmentally sustainable development of developing countries, Japanese development experiences will be systematically introduced. Specifically, based on the historical transitions in Japan’s development and environmental problems, students will learn how to solve environmental problems to cope with economic development from development experience in the modernization of Japan, particularly in the following four divisions: [urban and transportation], [energy], [risk management], [biological science].Discussion on the transferability of Japanese development experience based on the development stage of developing counties will be made.

Among the four fields from "Urban and Transportation", "Energy", "Risk Management" and "Biological Production",  students will introduce an example of a development and environmental problem from their own counties, and will make a presentation about possible solutions based on lessons learned from the development experience of Japan.
