Class Objectives
/Class Outline
In recent years, making progress of LSI techniques and the ability of information processing had encouraged the development of digital video coding and information-communication to integrate the field of broadcast, communication and storage devices in video communication.
Compared with text information, the amount of audio and video data is huge. So, it is important to compress them according to the characteristics of them. Then, we'll let you acquire basic technologies related to each a still-picture and a video coding method. You'll learn about the historical background of image communication, e.g., a bi-level image coding, a facsimile coding scheme and a compression technique in a natural image. Next, we'll discuss a still-image processing, moving picture processing, international video coding standards, scalability, media communication and other image applications.
