Class Objectives
/Class Outline
A living brain has excellent information processing system as typified by a vision system. Understanding, suitable modeling and technological application of this biological information processing is academically and electrotechnically very meaningful. In this lecture, in order to understand brain information processing, you will learn the basic knowledge of neuron, which is the basic elements. And then, the researches that combine biology and engineering, and the applications of artifitial neural network, artificial organs (cochlear implant, artificial vision and BMI (Brain Machine Implant)) will be explained.
Class Schedule 1,2) Overview of a biological information processing system
3,4) Structure and operating principle of neuron cell
5,6) Information propagation mechanism on neuron cell
7,8) Information propagation at synapses and memory mechanism
9,10) Information processing system for sensory systems
11,12) Artifitial neural network
13,14) Artifitial organs (hearing, vision, brain)
15) Conclusion of the biological information processing system
