Class Objectives
/Class Outline
This subject will teach students how various studies in the fields of the humanities and social sciences have influenced society, and vice versa, taking into consideration their relevance to other academic disciplines, including natural sciences and life sciences. Learning about the correlations between respective areas of study and society will be helpful for students to better understand what roles the humanities and social sciences are expected to play in creating a future society. This subject will also encourage students to explore how their individual research themes can contribute to the further development of human society so as to enhance their motivation for research.
(Total 8 lessons in an omnibus style) 
Class Schedule Lesson 1: Introductory guidance to give students an overview of this subject
Lesson 2: Correlations between society and such areas of study as multicultural society and comparative culture will be introduced to students, taking their relevance to other academic disciplines into consideration.
Lesson 3: Correlations between society and such areas of study as philosophy, ethics and cultural thoughts will be introduced to students, taking their relevance to other academic disciplines into consideration.
Lesson 4: Correlations between society and such areas of study as Japanese history, Oriental history and European history will be introduced to students, taking their relevance to other academic disciplines into consideration.
Lesson 5: Correlations between society and such areas of study as geography, archaeology and cultural heritage will be introduced to students, taking their relevance to other academic disciplines into consideration.
Lesson 6: Correlations between society and such areas of study as Japanese linguistics, Japanese literature, Chinese linguistics, Chinese literature, European/American literature and English linguistics will be introduced to students, taking their relevance to other academic disciplines into consideration.
Lesson 7: Correlations between society and such areas of study as Japanese linguistics, Japanese literature, Chinese linguistics, Chinese literature, European/American literature and English linguistics will be introduced to students, taking their relevance to other academic disciplines into consideration.
Lesson 8: Correlations between society and economics will be introduced to students, taking their relevance to other academic disciplines into consideration.

Please select one of them and submit the assignment.
Only one assignment can be submitted in a week.
Therefore, submit reports on a total of 7 assignments in 7 weeks.

Requirements Requirements:Students enrolling in AY 2024 or later.

If the attendance falls short of two third the total number of classes, student will not be eligible for semester end exam or report. Carry student ID when appearing for class.  
Grading Method Grades will be calculated as the total of result of each short test.
