Class Objectives
/Class Outline The course covers a wide range of issues on primary, secondary, technical/ vocational, and higher education in developing countries. Students will understand basic issues of educational development and acquire analytical methods for the issues.
Based on theories, policies and practices of educational development, students will have hands-on experiences of different types of international cooperation in education and means of intervention being taken by the government and aid agencies, and will become able to clearly express opinions on them.

lesson3 Issues of secondary education and technical/vocational education in developing countries
lesson4 Reconstructed Cohort analysis of student flow (exercise using spreadsheets)
lesson5 Issues of higher education in developing countries
lesson6 Education sector analysis – policies and practices
lesson7 Presentation – Current situations and issues on education in my country
lesson8 Changing modalities of educational cooperation – from projects to Program-Based Approach
lesson9 Education problem analysis using a Problem Tree and a Solution Tree
lesson10 Project Design Matrix and Indicators
lesson11 Group work on project design
lesson12 Education project appraisal by the World Bank
lesson13 Education project monitoring and evaluation
lesson14 A proposed education project in my country: presentation

Students shall submit completed exercises/assignments and the final report.
