Provides outline on Japanese knowledge and ability, has students acquire theory and skill required for creating good questions. Through test development seminar and discussion, provides better understanding on assessment. |
Class Schedule |
Session 1: Overview of the Course - Shared awareness of individual evaluations and clarification of task awareness. Session 2: Fundamentals of Assessment - Lecture on basic terms and concepts related to assessment. Session 3: Fundamentals of Assessment - Understanding the overview of assessment through demonstrations of assessment methods. Session 4: Fundamentals of Assessment (Standardized Testing) - Sessions 4 to 6 will involve a collaborative reading and review of basic terms and concepts related to assessment. Session 5: Fundamentals of Assessment (What is Extensive Reading?) Session 6: Fundamentals of Assessment (Extensive Reading Programs) Session 7: Understanding Preceding Cases in Language Assessment (Vocabulary in Extensive Reading) Session 8: Understanding Preceding Cases in Language Assessment (Motivation) Session 9: Understanding Preceding Cases in Language Assessment (Fluency and Comprehension) Session 10: Understanding Preceding Cases in Language Assessment (Design of Extensive Reading Research) - Sessions 7 to 10 will focus on specific language assessments based on the assessment methods discussed in Sessions 2 to 6, investigating concrete examples. Session 11: Language Assessment and Learners Session 12: Development of Language Assessment Session 13: Implementation of Language Assessment Session 14: Analysis of Language Assessment - Sessions 11 to 14 will involve the development of language assessments for learners (children, adults) based on the language assessments covered in Sessions 7 to 10. During this process, you will learn about language assessment analysis methods such as reliability and validity. Session 15: Summary and Reflection - Concluding the course with a summary and reflection throughout the entire course and the preparation of a final report.
A final report will be assigned. |

Students planning to write their thesis in the Watanabe Seminar must take this course. |
