The aim of this course is to acquire basic knowledge and techniques of research in Japanese language and culture.
First half of the course will focus on communication through Rakugo. Second half of the course will focus on experimental methods and data analysis in language processing/acquisition research.

Review
Students should read the assigned texts and articles in advance. Further work outside of class may include following activities: language documentation, annotating, summarizing, brainstorming, systematic questioning, outlining own thoughts, drafting, revising.  
Requirements Absence in over 1/3 of the classes will immediately lead to failing. In the second half of the course (lesson 8-14), works outside of the class may be assigned.
